ELISA: Suggested Dilution: 0.2 - 0.4ng/well
Western Blotting: Suggested Dilution: 1.5 - 3.0ng/lane
Reconstitution
Reconstitute with 0.5ml distilled water. Care should be taken during reconstitution as the protein may appear as a film at the bottom of the vial. MyBioSource recommends that the vial is gently mixed after reconstitution. For extended storage, the additiona of 0.1% bovine serum albumin (BSA) is recommended.
Preparation
Purified recombinant galectin-1 expressed in E Coli.
Endotoxin Level
< 1 EU/ug
Activity
Determined by its ability to chemoattract human blood monocytes. Chemotactic activity was observed at a concentration of 2.5 ug/ml with a peak response obtained at 250 ug/ml.
Target Species
Human
Preparation and Storage
Prior to reconstitution store at 4°C.
After reconstitution store at -20°C.
Storage in frost-free freezers is not recommended.
This product should be stored undiluted. Avoid repeated freezing and thawing as this may denature the antibody. Should this product contain a precipitate we recommend microcentrifugation before use.
Related Product Information for LGALS1 active protein
Human galectin-1 (Gal-1) is a member of the galectin family of beta-galactoside-binding proteins, which exhibits both intracellular and extracellular functions, and is differentially expressed by a wide range of normal and neoplastic tissues. Galectin-1 has been implicated in several major cellular functions including proliferation, motility, haematopoietic cell differentiation, apoptosis promotion and immunoregulatory effects. The expression of Gal-1 by neuronal and glial cells correlates with neuroregeneration following injury, and studies have shown the importance of Gal-1 to primary sensory neurons and synaptic connections in the spinal cord, during embryonic development.

NCBI Description

The galectins are a family of beta-galactoside-binding proteins implicated in modulating cell-cell and cell-matrix interactions. This gene product may act as an autocrine negative growth factor that regulates cell proliferation. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Uniprot Description

Galectin-1: May regulate apoptosis, cell proliferation and cell differentiation. Binds beta-galactoside and a wide array of complex carbohydrates. Inhibits CD45 protein phosphatase activity and therefore the dephosphorylation of Lyn kinase. Homodimer. Binds LGALS3BP. Interacts with CD2, CD3, CD4, CD7, CD43 and CD45. Interacts with laminin (via poly-N- acetyllactosamine). Expressed in placenta, maternal decidua and fetal membranes. Within placenta, expressed in trophoblasts, stromal cells, villous endothelium, syncytiotrophoblast apical membrane and villous stroma. Within fetal membranes, expressed in amnion, chorioamniotic mesenchyma and chorion. Expressed in cardiac, smooth, and skeletal muscle, neurons, thymus, kidney and hematopoietic cells.

Product Notes

The LGALS1 lgals1 (Catalog #AAA232407) is an Active Protein and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. AAA Biotech's GALECTIN-1 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA (EIA), Functional Assays (FN), Western Blot (WB). ELISA: Suggested Dilution: 0.2 - 0.4ng/well Western Blotting: Suggested Dilution: 1.5 - 3.0ng/lane. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the LGALS1 lgals1 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "GALECTIN-1, Active Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
