Epidermal Growth Factor (EGF) Active Protein | EGF active protein
Active Epidermal Growth Factor (EGF)
The thermal stability is described by the loss rate. The loss rate was determined by accelerated thermal degradation test, that is, incubate the protein at 37 degree C for 48h, and no obvious degradation and precipitation were observed. The loss rate is less than 5% within the expiration date under appropriate storage condition.
Activity Data
(Figure. Cell proliferation of 3T3 cells after stimulated with EGF.Epidermal growth factor (EGF) binding to EGFR, results in cellular proliferation, differentiation, and survival. To test the effect of EGF on cell proliferation, 3T3 fibroblasts cells were seeded into triplicate wells of 96-well plates at a density of 2,000 cells/well and allowed to attach, replaced with serum-free overnight, then the medium was replaced with 1% serum standard DMEM prior to the addition of various concentrations of recombinant rat EGF. After incubated for 96h, cells were observed by inverted microscope and cell proliferation was measured by Cell Counting Kit-8 (CCK-8). Briefly, 10uL of CCK-8 solution was added to each well of the plate, then the absorbance at 450nm was measured using a microplate reader after incubating the plate for 1-4 hours at 37 degree C. Proliferation of 3T3 cells after incubation with EGF for 96h observed by inverted microscope was shown in Figure 1. Cell viability was assessed by CCK-8 (Cell Counting Kit-8) assay after incubation with recombinant EGF for 96h. The result was shown in Figure 2. It was obvious that EGF significantly increased cell viability of 3T3 cells.(A) 3T3 cells cultured in DMEM, stimulated with 1ng/mL EGF for 96h;(B) Unstimulated 3T3 cells cultured in DMEM for 96h.)
NCBI and Uniprot Product Information
NCBI Description
binds the epidermal growth factor receptor; may play a role in MAP kinase mediated signaling pathways [RGD, Feb 2006]
Uniprot Description
EGF: EGF stimulates the growth of various epidermal and epithelial tissues in vivo and in vitro and of some fibroblasts in cell culture. Magnesiotropic hormone that stimulates magnesium reabsorption in the renal distal convoluted tubule via engagement of EGFR and activation of the magnesium channel TRPM6. Defects in EGF are the cause of hypomagnesemia type 4 (HOMG4); also known as renal hypomagnesemia normocalciuric. HOMG4 is a disorder characterized by massive renal hypomagnesemia and normal levels of serum calcium and calcium excretion. Clinical features include seizures, mild-to mederate psychomotor retardation, and brisk tendon reflexes. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Product Notes
The EGF egf (Catalog #AAA2105104) is an Active Protein and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. AAA Biotech's Epidermal Growth Factor (EGF) can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Cell Culture, Activity Assays. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the EGF egf for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Epidermal Growth Factor (EGF), Active Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.Precautions
