Human
Preparation and Storage
Prior to reconstitution store at 4 degree C. After reconstitution store at -20 degree C. Storage in frost-free freezers is not recommended. This product should be stored undiluted. Avoid repeated freezing and thawing as this may denature the antibody. Should this product contain a precipitate we recommend microcentrifugation before use.
Shelf Life: 3 months from date of reconstitution.
Related Product Information for DEFB103A active protein
Defensin beta 3 (BD-3) is a cationic non-haemolytic antimicrobial peptide and member of the beta-defensin family, highly expressed by skin and tonsils, which plays an important role in the innate immune response to potentially pathogenic microbes, including multiresistant S. aureus and vancomycin-resistant E. faecium.

NCBI Description

Defensins form a family of microbicidal and cytotoxic peptides made by neutrophils. Members of the defensin family are highly similar in protein sequence. This gene encodes defensin, beta 103, an antibiotic peptide which is induced by bacteria and interferon gamma, and which displays antimicrobial activity against S. aureus, S. pyogenes, P. aeruginosa, E. coli, and C. albicans. [provided by RefSeq, Oct 2014]

Uniprot Description

defensin, beta 3: Exhibits antimicrobial activity against Gram-positive bacteria S.aureus and S.pyogenes, Gram-negative bacteria P.aeruginosa and E.coli and the yeast C.albicans. Kills multiresistant S.aureus and vancomycin-resistant E.faecium. No significant hemolytic activity was observed. Belongs to the beta-defensin family.

Protein type: Secreted, signal peptide; Secreted

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 8p23.1

Cellular Component: Golgi lumen; extracellular region

Biological Process: defense response to bacterium; innate immune response; positive regulation of biosynthetic process of antibacterial peptides active against Gram-positive bacteria

Product Notes

The DEFB103A defb103a (Catalog #AAA232468) is an Active Protein and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. AAA Biotech's DEFENSIN BETA 3 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA (EIA), Functional Assays (FN), Western Blot (WB). ELISA: Minimum Dilution: 0.2; Maximum Dilution: 0.4ng/well; Western Blotting: Minimum Dilution: 1.5; Maximum Dilution: 3.0ng/lane. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the DEFB103A defb103a for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "DEFENSIN BETA 3, Active Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
