Related Product Information for CD14 active protein
CD14 acts as a receptor for endotoxin (LPS), is expressed strongly on monocytes, macro¬pha¬ges and weekly at surface of neutrophiles. CD14 is anchored to cells by linkage to glycosylphosphatidylinositol (GPI) and functions as a high affinity receptor LPS-LBP (lipopolysaccharide binding protein)-complexes. Furthermore CD14 is present in a soluble form in human serum, urine and other body fluids, acts at physiological concentrations as LPS agonist and has at higher concentrations an antagonizing effect in cell activation. The myeloid differentiation antigen CD14 acts as the major receptor for bacterial LPS. The dominant form of the recombinant wild type CD14 is the 50kD protein.

Uniprot Description

Function: In concert with LBP, binds to monomeric lipopolysaccharide and delivers it to the MD-2/TLR4 complex, thereby mediating the innate immune response to bacterial lipopolysaccharide (LPS). Acts via MyD88, TIRAP and TRAF6, leading to NF-kappa-B activation, cytokine secretion and the inflammatory response. Up-regulates cell surface molecules, including adhesion molecules

By similarity.

Subunit structure: Belongs to the lipopolysaccharide (LPS) receptor, a multi-protein complex containing at least CD14, MD-2 and TLR4

By similarity.

Subcellular location: Cell membrane; Lipid-anchor › GPI-anchor

By similarity.

Sequence similarities: Contains 11 LRR (leucine-rich) repeats.

Product Notes

The CD14 cd14 (Catalog #AAA637301) is an Active Protein and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "CD14, Active Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
