One unit hydrolyses 1 umole of p-nitrophenol-b-D-galactoside to p-nitrophenol per minute at 37ºC. For batch-specific activity, please inquire.
Preparation and Storage
Prior to reconstitution store at +4°C.
After reconstitution store at -20°C.
Storage in frost-free freezers is not recommended. This product should be stored undiluted.
Avoid repeated freezing and thawing as this may denature the protein.
Should this product contain a precipitate we recommend microcentrifugation before use.
Related Product Information for lacZ active protein
Escherichia coli Beta-Galactosidase is an inducible tetrameric enzyme coded by the lac Z gene of the lac operon that is often used as a reporter to assess the efficiency of transfection. It is a metalloenzyme that splits lactose into glucose and galactose. It hydrolyzes terminal, non-reducing beta-D-galactose residues in beta-D-galactosides.

Product Notes

The lacZ lacz (Catalog #AAA230338) is an Active Protein and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. AAA Biotech's BETA GALACTOSIDASE can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Functional Assays (FN). Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the lacZ lacz for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "BETA GALACTOSIDASE, Active Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
