Related Product Information for ACOT11 recombinant protein
Description: ACOT11 Human Recombinant produced in E Coli is a single, non-glycosylated polypeptide chain topological domain containing 268 amino acids (19-250 a.a) and having a molecular mass of 29.9kDa. ACOT11 is fused to a 36 amino acid His-tag at N-terminus.

Introduction: ACOT11 belongs to the acyl-CoA thioesterase family which catalyses the transformation of activated fatty acids to the equivalent non-esterified fatty acid and coenzyme A. Expression of a mouse homolog in brown adipose tissue is induced by low temperatures and inhibited by high temperatures. Obesity-resistant mice demonstrated High levels of expression compared with obesity-prone mice, indicating BFIT takes part in acyl-CoA thioesterase 11 in obesity. BFIT has acyl-CoA thioesterase activity towards medium (C12) and long-chain (C18) fatty acyl-CoA substrates.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes a member of the acyl-CoA thioesterase family which catalyse the conversion of activated fatty acids to the corresponding non-esterified fatty acid and coenzyme A. Expression of a mouse homolog in brown adipose tissue is induced by low temperatures and repressed by warm temperatures. Higher levels of expression of the mouse homolog has been found in obesity-resistant mice compared with obesity-prone mice, suggesting a role of acyl-CoA thioesterase 11 in obesity. Alternative splicing results in transcript variants. [provided by RefSeq, Nov 2010]

Uniprot Description

ACOT11: Has acyl-CoA thioesterase activity towards medium (C12) and long-chain (C18) fatty acyl-CoA substrates. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Protein type: Hydrolase; EC 3.1.2.-

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 1p32.3

Cellular Component: cytoplasm

Molecular Function: acyl-CoA hydrolase activity; lipid binding

Biological Process: response to temperature stimulus; response to cold; fatty acid metabolic process
