Related Product Information for Mif recombinant protein
This gene encodes a lymphokine involved in cell-mediated immunity, immunoregulation, and inflammation. It plays a role in the regulation of macrophage function in host defense through the suppression of anti-inflammatory effects of glucocorticoids. This lymphokine and the JAB1 protein form a complex in the cytosol near the peripheral plasma membrane, which may indicate an additional role in integrin signaling pathways.

NCBI Description

inhibits random migration of macrophages and is involved in the pathogenesis of several inflammatory diseases [RGD, Feb 2006]

Uniprot Description

Pro-inflammatory cytokine. Involved in the innate immune response to bacterial pathogens. The expression of MIF at sites of inflammation suggests a role as mediator in regulating the function of macrophages in host defense. Counteracts the anti-inflammatory activity of glucocorticoids. Has phenylpyruvate tautomerase and dopachrome tautomerase activity (in vitro), but the physiological substrate is not known. It is not clear whether the tautomerase activity has any physiological relevance, and whether it is important for cytokine activity ().

Product Notes

The Mif mif (Catalog #AAA963344) is a Recombinant Protein produced from E Coli or Yeast or Baculovirus or Mammalian Cell and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The immunogen sequence is 2-115, Full length protein. The amino acid sequence is listed below: PMFIVNTNVP RASVPEGFLS ELTQQLAQAT GKPAQYIAVH VVPDQLMTFS GTSDPCALCS LHSIGKIGGA QNRNYSKLLC GLLSDRLHIS PDRVYINYYD MNAANVGWNG STFA. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Macrophage migration inhibitory factor (Mif), Recombinant Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
