Related Product Information for anti-HPRT antibody
Description: The HPRT1 gene provides instructions for making an enzyme called hypoxanthine phosphoribosyltransferase 1. This enzyme allows cells to recycle purines, some of the building blocks of DNA and its chemical cousin RNA.The enzyme hypoxanthine-guanine phosphoribosyltrasferase (E.C.2.4.2.8., HPRT) plays a crucial role in uric acid synthesis and purine metabolism. This enzyme catalyzes the conversion of hypoxanthine and guanine to inosine monophosphate (IMP) and guanosine monophosphate (GMP), respectively, and uses phosphoribosylpyrophosphate (PRPP) as a cosubstrate and as a source of energy. This pathway is also known as the purine salvage pathway because it allows cells to reuse purine compounds to build DNA and RNA.
Function: Converts guanine to guanosine monophosphate, and hypoxanthine to inosine monophosphate. Transfers the 5-phosphoribosyl group from 5-phosphoribosylpyrophosphate onto the purine. Plays a central role in the generation of purine nucleotides through the purine salvage pathway.
Subunit Structure: Homotetramer.
Similarity: Belongs to the purine/pyrimidine phosphoribosyltransferase family.

NCBI Description

The protein encoded by this gene is a transferase, which catalyzes conversion of hypoxanthine to inosine monophosphate and guanine to guanosine monophosphate via transfer of the 5-phosphoribosyl group from 5-phosphoribosyl 1-pyrophosphate. This enzyme plays a central role in the generation of purine nucleotides through the purine salvage pathway. Mutations in this gene result in Lesch-Nyhan syndrome or gout.[provided by RefSeq, Jun 2009]

Uniprot Description

Converts guanine to guanosine monophosphate, and hypoxanthine to inosine monophosphate. Transfers the 5-phosphoribosyl group from 5-phosphoribosylpyrophosphate onto the purine. Plays a central role in the generation of purine nucleotides through the purine salvage pathway.

Product Notes

The HPRT hprt1 (Catalog #AAA9602462) is an Antibody produced from Mouse and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The HPRT Antibody reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's HPRT can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), ELISA (EIA). ELISA: 1:10000 WB: 1:500-1:2000. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the HPRT hprt1 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "HPRT, Monoclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
