Uniprot Description

IFITM2: IFN-induced antiviral protein which inhibits the entry of viruses to the host cell cytoplasm, permitting endocytosis, but preventing subsequent viral fusion and release of viral contents into the cytosol. Active against multiple viruses, including influenza A virus, SARS coronavirus (SARS-CoV), Marburg virus (MARV), Ebola virus (EBOV), Dengue virus (DNV), West Nile virus (WNV), human immunodeficiency virus type 1 (HIV-1) and vesicular stomatitis virus (VSV). Can inhibit: influenza virus hemagglutinin protein-mediated viral entry, MARV and EBOV GP1,2-mediated viral entry, SARS-CoV S protein-mediated viral entry and VSV G protein- mediated viral entry. Induces cell cycle arrest and mediates apoptosis by caspase activation and in p53-independent manner. Belongs to the CD225/Dispanin family.

Protein type: Membrane protein, multi-pass; Membrane protein, integral

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 11p15.5

Cellular Component: integral to membrane; plasma membrane

Biological Process: negative regulation of viral genome replication; negative regulation of virion penetration into host cell; cytokine and chemokine mediated signaling pathway; response to virus; immune response; defense response to virus

Product Notes

The IFITM2 ifitm2 (Catalog #AAA959351) is a Recombinant Protein produced from E Coli or Yeast or Baculovirus or Mammalian Cell and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The immunogen sequence is 1-132. The amino acid sequence is listed below: MNHIVQTFSP VNSGQPPNYE MLKEEQEVAM LGVPHNPAPP MSTVIHIRSE TSVPDHVVWS LFNTLFMNTC CLGFIAFAYS VKSRDRKMVG DVTGAQAYAS TAKCLNIWAL ILGIFMTILL IIIPVLVVQA QR. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Interferon-induced transmembrane protein 2 (IFITM2), Recombinant Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
