NCBI and Uniprot Product Information
NCBI Description
This gene encodes one member of a family of translation repressor proteins. The protein directly interacts with eukaryotic translation initiation factor 4E (eIF4E), which is a limiting component of the multisubunit complex that recruits 40S ribosomal subunits to the 5' end of mRNAs. Interaction of this protein with eIF4E inhibits complex assembly and represses translation. This protein is phosphorylated in response to various signals including UV irradiation and insulin signaling, resulting in its dissociation from eIF4E and activation of mRNA translation. Uniprot Description
4E-BP1: binds to eIF4E, preventing its assembly into the EIF4F complex and inhibiting cap-dependent translation. Phosphorylation of 4E-BP1 disrupts this binding, activating cap-dependent translation. Mediates the regulation of protein translation by hormones, growth factors and other stimuli that signal through the PI3 kinase pathway.

Product Notes
The 4E-BP1 eif4ebp1 (Catalog #AAA9402932) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The 4E-BP1(Phospho-Thr36) Antibody reacts with Human, Mouse, Rat and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's 4E-BP1 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), Immunohistochemistry (IHC). Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the 4E-BP1 eif4ebp1 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "4E-BP1, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.Precautions
