Principle of the Assay: This assay employs the quantitative sandwich enzyme immunoassay technique. Antibody specific for APOA1BP has been pre-coated onto a microplate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and any APOA1BP present is bound by the immobilized antibody. After removing any unbound substances, a biotin-conjugated antibody specific for APOA1BP is added to the wells. After washing, avidin conjugated Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to the wells. Following a wash to remove any unbound avidin-enzyme reagent, a substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of APOA1BP bound in the initial step. The color development is stopped and the intensity of the color is measured.

APOA1BP: Catalyzes the epimerization of the S- and R-forms of NAD(P)HX, a damaged form of NAD(P)H that is a result of enzymatic or heat-dependent hydration. This is a prerequisite for the S- specific NAD(P)H-hydrate dehydratase to allow the repair of both epimers of NAD(P)HX. Belongs to the nnrE/AIBP family. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.
