Synonyms
SCRIB; SCRIB Antibody (N-term) Blocking Peptide; Protein scribble homolog; Scribble; hScrib; Protein LAP4; CRIB1; KIAA0147; LAP4; SCRB1; VARTUL; SCRIB blocking peptide
Ordering
Form/Format
Synthetic peptide was lyophilized with 100% acetonitrile and is supplied as a powder. Reconstitute with 0.1 ml DI water for a final concentration of 1 mg/ml.
Sequence Length
1630
Cellular Location
Cell membrane; Peripheral membrane protein. Cell junction, adherens junction. Cell projection, lamellipodium Cytoplasm. Note: Targeting to cell-cell junctions which is CDH1- dependent is required for the pro-apoptotic activity. Localizes to neuronal post- and pre-synaptic regions
Tissue Location
Expressed in kidney, skeletal muscles, liver, lung, breast, intestine, placenta and skin mainly in epithelial cells (at protein level).
Preparation and Storage
Maintain refrigerated at 2-8 degree C for up to 6 months. For long term storage store at -20 degree C.
Related Product Information for SCRIB blocking peptide
Scaffold protein involved in different aspects of polarized cells differentiation regulating epithelial and neuronal morphogenesis. Most probably functions in the establishment of apico-basal cell polarity. May function in cell proliferation regulating progression from G1 to S phase and as a positive regulator of apoptosis for instance during acinar morphogenesis of the mammary epithelium. May also function in cell migration and adhesion and hence regulate cell invasion through MAPK signaling. May play a role in exocytosis and in the targeting synaptic vesicles to synapses. Functions as an activator of Rac GTPase activity.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes a protein that was identified as being similar to the Drosophila scribble protein. The mammalian protein is involved in tumor suppression pathways. As a scaffold protein involved in cell polarization processes, this protein binds to many other proteins. The encoded protein binds to papillomavirus E6 protein via its PDZ domain and the C-terminus of E6. Two alternatively spliced transcript variants that encode different protein isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Nov 2011]

Uniprot Description

Scribble: may be involved in regulating neuroblast cortical polarity, cell size asymmetry and mitotic spindle asymmetry. A neoplastic tumor suppressor genes in Drosophila melanogaster. May play a role in the suppression of mammalian tumorigenesis. Gene ablation in the mouse causes severe neural tube defects. May be implicated in the etiology of human NTDs. Involved in the regulation of synaptic plasticity and synaptic vesicle dynamics. May be required to sustain synaptic vesicle concentrations at their sites of release. Targeted for ubiquitin-mediated degradation by the HPV E6 oncoprotein.

Product Notes

The SCRIB scrib (Catalog #AAA9223799) is a Blocking Peptide and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "SCRIB, Blocking Peptide" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
