GOLGA5 blocking peptide

GOLGA5 Antibody (Center) Blocking peptide

Gene Names
GOLGA5; RFG5; GOLIM5; ret-II
Synonyms
GOLGA5; GOLGA5 Antibody (Center) Blocking peptide; Golgin subfamily A member 5; Cell proliferation-inducing gene 31 protein; Golgin-84; Protein Ret-II; RET-fused gene 5 protein; RETII; RFG5; GOLGA5 blocking peptide
Ordering
Specificity
The synthetic peptide sequence used to generate the antibody was selected from the Center region of GOLGA5. A 10 to 100 fold molar excess to antibody is recommended. Precise conditions should be optimized for a particular assay.
Form/Format
Synthetic peptide was lyophilized with 100% acetonitrile and is supplied as a powder. Reconstitute with 0.1 ml DI water for a final concentration of 1 mg/ml.
Sequence Length
731
Cellular Location
Golgi apparatus membrane; Single-pass type IV membrane protein. Note: Found throughout the Golgi, both on cisternae and, at higher abundance, on the tubulo- vesicular structures of the cis-Golgi network
Tissue Location
Ubiquitous. Highly expressed in seminiferous tubules and Leydig cells in testis, and detected at much lower levels in the other tissues tested. Expression is very low or not detectable in spermatozoa.
Preparation and Storage
Maintain refrigerated at 2-8 degree C for up to 6 months. For long term storage store at -20 degree C.
Related Product Information for GOLGA5 blocking peptide
Involved in maintaining Golgi structure. Stimulates the formation of Golgi stacks and ribbons. Involved in intra-Golgi retrograde transport.

NCBI Description

The Golgi apparatus, which participates in glycosylation and transport of proteins and lipids in the secretory pathway, consists of a series of stacked cisternae (flattened membrane sacs). Interactions between the Golgi and microtubules are thought to be important for the reorganization of the Golgi after it fragments during mitosis. This gene encodes one of the golgins, a family of proteins localized to the Golgi. This protein is a coiled-coil membrane protein that has been postulated to play a role in vesicle tethering and docking. Translocations involving this gene and the ret proto-oncogene have been found in tumor tissues; the chimeric sequences have been designated RET-II and PTC5. A pseudogene of this gene is located on the short arm of chromosome 5. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2013]

Uniprot Description

GOLGA5: a member of the golgin family of proteins, whose members localize to the Golgi. Involved in regulating the architecture of the Golgi apparatus. A coiled-coil membrane protein that has been postulated to play a role in vesicle tethering and docking. Translocations involving this gene and the ret proto-oncogene have been found in tumor tissues. Highly phosphorylated during mitosis. Phosphorylation is barely detectable during interphase. Two splice variant isoforms have been described.

Product Notes

The GOLGA5 golga5 (Catalog #AAA9220503) is a Blocking Peptide and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "GOLGA5, Blocking Peptide" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
