NCBI Description

This gene encodes a member of the hydratase/isomerase superfamily. The protein encoded is a key mitochondrial enzyme involved in beta-oxidation of unsaturated fatty acids. It catalyzes the transformation of 3-cis and 3-trans-enoyl-CoA esters arising during the stepwise degradation of cis-, mono-, and polyunsaturated fatty acids to the 2-trans-enoyl-CoA intermediates. Alternatively spliced transcript variants have been described. [provided by RefSeq, May 2010]

Uniprot Description

DCI: Able to isomerize both 3-cis and 3-trans double bonds into the 2-trans form in a range of enoyl-CoA species. Belongs to the enoyl-CoA hydratase/isomerase family. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Protein type: Mitochondrial; Lipid Metabolism - fatty acid; EC 5.3.3.8; Isomerase

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 16p13.3

Cellular Component: mitochondrion; mitochondrial matrix; mitochondrial inner membrane

Molecular Function: identical protein binding; dodecenoyl-CoA delta-isomerase activity; intramolecular oxidoreductase activity

Biological Process: fatty acid beta-oxidation; cellular lipid metabolic process

Product Notes

The ECI1 eci1 (Catalog #AAA9215647) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The ECI1 Antibody reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's ECI1 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB). WB ~~1:1000. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the ECI1 eci1 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "ECI1, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
