Related Product Information for anti-PI4K2B antibody
Protein kinases are enzymes that transfer a phosphate group from a phosphate donor, generally the g phosphate of ATP, onto an acceptor amino acid in a substrate protein. By this basic mechanism, protein kinases mediate most of the signal transduction in eukaryotic cells, regulating cellular metabolism, transcription, cell cycle progression, cytoskeletal rearrangement and cell movement, apoptosis, and differentiation. With more than 500 gene products, the protein kinase family is one of the largest families of proteins in eukaryotes. The family has been classified in 8 major groups based on sequence comparison of their tyrosine (PTK) or serine/threonine (STK) kinase catalytic domains.

NCBI Description

Phosphatidylinositol 4-kinases (PI4Ks) phosphorylate phosphatidylinositol to generate phosphatidylinositol 4-phosphate (PIP), an immediate precursor of several important signaling and scaffolding molecules. PIP itself may also have direct functional and structural roles. PI4K2B is a primarily cytosolic PI4K that is recruited to membranes, where it stimulates phosphatidylinositol 4,5-bisphosphate synthesis (Wei et al., 2002 [PubMed 12324459]).[supplied by OMIM, Jun 2008]

Uniprot Description

PI4K2B: Together with PI4K2A and the type III PI4Ks (PIK4CA and PIK4CB) it contributes to the overall PI4-kinase activity of the cell. This contribution may be especially significant in plasma membrane, endosomal and Golgi compartments. The phosphorylation of phosphatidylinositol (PI) to PI4P is the first committed step in the generation of phosphatidylinositol 4,5-bisphosphate (PIP2), a precursor of the second messenger inositol 1,4,5-trisphosphate (InsP3). Contributes to the production of InsP3 in stimulated cells and is likely to be involved in the regulation of vesicular trafficking. Belongs to the PI3/PI4-kinase family. Type II PI4K subfamily.

Product Notes

The PI4K2B pi4k2b (Catalog #AAA9209684) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The immunogen sequence is 305-336. The PI 4 Kinase type 2 beta antibody (C-term) reacts with Human, mouse and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's PI 4 Kinase type 2 beta can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA (EIA), Immunohistochemistry (IHC), Western Blot (WB). WB~~1:1000. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the PI4K2B pi4k2b for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "PI 4 Kinase type 2 beta, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
