Related Product Information for anti-GRIK1 antibody
Glutamate receptors are the predominant excitatory neurotransmitter receptors in the mammalian brain and are activated in a variety of normal neurophysiologic processes. This gene product belongs to the kainate family of glutamate receptors, which are composed of four subunits and function as ligand-activated ion channels. The subunit encoded by this gene is subject to RNA editing (CAG->CGG; Q->R) within the second transmembrane domain, which is thought to alter the properties of ion flow. Alternative splicing, resulting in transcript variants encoding different isoforms, has been noted for this gene.

NCBI Description

Glutamate receptors are the predominant excitatory neurotransmitter receptors in the mammalian brain and are activated in a variety of normal neurophysiologic processes. This gene product belongs to the kainate family of glutamate receptors, which are composed of four subunits and function as ligand-activated ion channels. The subunit encoded by this gene is subject to RNA editing (CAG->CGG; Q->R) within the second transmembrane domain, which is thought to alter the properties of ion flow. Uniprot Description

GluR5: Ionotropic glutamate receptor. L-glutamate acts as an excitatory neurotransmitter at many synapses in the central nervous system. Binding of the excitatory neurotransmitter L- glutamate induces a conformation change, leading to the opening of the cation channel, and thereby converts the chemical signal to an electrical impulse. The receptor then desensitizes rapidly and enters a transient inactive state, characterized by the presence of bound agonist. May be involved in the transmission of light information from the retina to the hypothalamus. Belongs to the glutamate-gated ion channel (TC 1.A.10.1) family. GRIK1 subfamily. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Protein type: Channel, ligand-gated; Membrane protein, integral; Membrane protein, multi-pass

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 21q21.3

Cellular Component: integral to plasma membrane; plasma membrane

Molecular Function: kainate selective glutamate receptor activity; ligand-gated ion channel activity

Biological Process: central nervous system development; glutamate signaling pathway; nervous system development; regulation of synaptic transmission, glutamatergic; synaptic transmission; transport

Product Notes

The GRIK1 grik1 (Catalog #AAA9130976) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The GRIK1 Polyclonal Antibody reacts with Mouse and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's GRIK1 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB). WB: 1:500 - 1:2000. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the GRIK1 grik1 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "GRIK1, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
