Related Product Information for anti-C3 antibody
Human Complement C3 (C3) is synthesized as a single-chain pro-molecule (185 kDa) that tsuffers several posttranslational modifications. Before being a mature protein, C3 is split into beta-chain (70 kDa) and alpha chain (115 kDa) and forms a rare internal thioester bond. C3 plays a central role in the activation of the complement system. It’s processing by C3 convertase is the central reaction in both classical and alternative complement pathways. After activation C3b can bind covalently, via its reactive thioester, to cell surface carbohydrates or immune aggregates.

NCBI Description

Complement component C3 plays a central role in the activation of complement system. Its activation is required for both classical and alternative complement activation pathways. The encoded preproprotein is proteolytically processed to generate alpha and beta subunits that form the mature protein, which is then further processed to generate numerous peptide products. The C3a peptide, also known as the C3a anaphylatoxin, modulates inflammation and possesses antimicrobial activity. Mutations in this gene are associated with atypical hemolytic uremic syndrome and age-related macular degeneration in human patients. [provided by RefSeq, Nov 2015]

Uniprot Description

C3 plays a central role in the activation of the complement system. Its processing by C3 convertase is the central reaction in both classical and alternative complement pathways. After activation C3b can bind covalently, via its reactive thioester, to cell surface carbohydrates or immune aggregates.Derived from proteolytic degradation of complement C3, C3a anaphylatoxin is a mediator of local inflammatory process. In chronic inflammation, acts as a chemoattractant for neutrophils (). It induces the contraction of smooth muscle, increases vascular permeability and causes histamine release from mast cells and basophilic leukocytes.

Product Notes

The C3 c3 (Catalog #AAA850641) is an Antibody and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Complement C3 (betachain) Antibody reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's Complement C3 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB). WB: 1:2,000. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the C3 c3 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Complement C3, Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
