Related Product Information for PNP active protein
Background: PNP belongs to the PNP/MTAP phosphorylase family of proteins. This protein catalyzes the reversible phosphorolysis of ribonucleosides and 2'-deoxyribonucleosides with specificity for guanine, hypoxanthine and their analogs. PNP deficiency is a rare autosomal recessive genetic disease associated with a severe defect in T-lymphocyte function and neurologic disorder in children, comprising four percent of combined immunodeficiency cases. Recombinant human PNP protein, fused to His-tag at N-terminus, was expressed in E.coli and purified by using conventional chromatography techniques

NCBI Description

This gene encodes an enzyme which reversibly catalyzes the phosphorolysis of purine nucleosides. The enzyme is trimeric, containing three identical subunits. Mutations which result in nucleoside phosphorylase deficiency result in defective T-cell (cell-mediated) immunity but can also affect B-cell immunity and antibody responses. Neurologic disorders may also be apparent in patients with immune defects. A known polymorphism at aa position 51 that does not affect enzyme activity has been described. A pseudogene has been identified on chromosome 2. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Uniprot Description

NP: a metabolic enzyme with purine-nucleoside phosphorylase activity. Defects are the cause of nucleoside phosphorylase deficiency (NP deficiency), with severe T-cell immunodeficiency with neurologic disorder in children.

Product Notes

The PNP pnp (Catalog #AAA844969) is an Active Protein produced from E Coli and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. AAA Biotech's PNP can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, SDS-PAGE. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the PNP pnp for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. The amino acid sequence is listed below: MGSSHHHHHH SSGLVPRGSH MENGYTYEDY KNTAEWLLSH TKHRPQVAII CGSGLGGLTD KLTQAQIFDY GEIPNFPRST VPGHAGRLVF GFLNGRACVM MQGRFHMYEG YPLWKVTFPV RVFHLLGVDT LVVTNAAGGL NPKFEVGDIM LIRDHINLPG FSGQNPLRGP NDERFGDRFP AMSDAYDRTM RQRALSTWKQ MGEQRELQEG TYVMVAGPSF ETVAECRVLQ KLGADAVGMS TVPEVIVARH CGLRVFGFSL ITNKVIMDYE SLEKANHEEV LAAGKQAAQK LEQFVSILMA SIPLPDKAS. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "PNP, Active Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
