Related Product Information for PLGF active protein
Background: Placental growth factor (PGF) also known as vascular endothelial growth factor-related protein, PLGF and PlGF2, is a member of the VEGF (vascular endothelial growth factor) sub-family - a key molecule in angiogenesis and vasculogenesis, in particular during embryogenesis. The main source of PGF during pregnancy is the placental trophoblast. PGF is also expressed in many other tissues, including the villous trophoblast. PGF is actived in angiogenesis and endothelial cell growth, stimulating their proliferation and migration. PlGF2 binds NRP1/neuropilin-1 and NRP2/neuropilin-2 in a heparin-dependent manner. Also promotes cell tumor growth.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes a growth factor found in placenta which is homologous to vascular endothelial growth factor. Alternatively spliced transcripts encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene.[provided by RefSeq, Jun 2011]

Uniprot Description

PGF: Growth factor active in angiogenesis and endothelial cell growth, stimulating their proliferation and migration. It binds to the receptor FLT1/VEGFR-1. Isoform PlGF-2 binds NRP1/neuropilin-1 and NRP2/neuropilin-2 in a heparin-dependent manner. Also promotes cell tumor growth. Belongs to the PDGF/VEGF growth factor family. 3 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Product Notes

The PLGF pgf (Catalog #AAA844157) is an Active Protein produced from HEK 293 cells and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. AAA Biotech's PLGF/PIGF2/PGF can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, SDS-PAGE; HPLC. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the PLGF pgf for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "PLGF/PIGF2/PGF, Active Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
