WB: 1:500-1:1000
Biological Significance
Vav is a member of the Dbl family of guanine nucleotide exchange factors (GEF)for the Rho family of GTP binding proteins. The protein is important in hematopoiesis, playing a role in T-cell andB-cell development and activation. This particular GEF has been identified as the specific binding partner of Nefproteins from HIV-1. Coexpression and binding of these partners initiates profound morphological changes, cytoskeletalrearrangements and the JNK/SAPK signaling cascade, leading to increased levels of viral transcription and replication.
Cross-Reactivity
Human, Mouse, Rat
Immunogen
Vav antibody was raised in Rabbit using the peptide sequence around phosphorylation site of tyrosine 174 (E-I-Y(p)-E-D) derived from Human Vav as the immunogen.
Preparation and Storage
Store at 4 degree C for short term storage. Aliquot and store at -20 degree C for long term storage. Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles.

NCBI Description

This gene is a member of the VAV gene family. The VAV proteins are guanine nucleotide exchange factors (GEFs) for Rho family GTPases that activate pathways leading to actin cytoskeletal rearrangements and transcriptional alterations. The encoded protein is important in hematopoiesis, playing a role in T-cell and B-cell development and activation. The encoded protein has been identified as the specific binding partner of Nef proteins from HIV-1. Coexpression and binding of these partners initiates profound morphological changes, cytoskeletal rearrangements and the JNK/SAPK signaling cascade, leading to increased levels of viral transcription and replication. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding multiple isoforms have been observed for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Apr 2012]

Product Notes

The Vav vav1 (Catalog #AAA837211) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. AAA Biotech's Vav can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB). WB: 1:500-1:1000. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the Vav vav1 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Vav, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
