Related Product Information for anti-CCL2 antibody
Monocyte chemoattractant protein 1 (MCP-1), also called CCL2, belongs to a group of CC chemokines located in chromosome 17q11.2. MCP-1 protein interacts with chemokine C-C motif receptor 2 (CCR2) to activate and recruit monocytes, macrophages, CD4+ T cells and immature dendritic cells to the site of infection. The presence of MCP-1 protein in an adequate concentration is important for granuloma formation and M. tuberculosis clearance.

NCBI Description

This gene is one of several cytokine genes clustered on chromosome 11. Chemokines are a superfamily of secreted proteins involved in immunoregulatory and inflammatory processes. The superfamily is divided into four subfamilies based on the arrangement of N-terminal cysteine residues of the mature peptide. This chemokine is a member of the CC subfamily which is characterized by two adjacent cysteine residues. This cytokine displays chemotactic activity for monocytes and memory T cells but not for neutrophils. The human ortholog has been implicated in the pathogenesis of diseases characterized by monocytic infiltrates, such as psoriasis, rheumatoid arthritis, and atherosclerosis. [provided by RefSeq, Sep 2015]

Uniprot Description

CCL13: Chemotactic factor that attracts monocytes, lymphocytes, basophils and eosinophils, but not neutrophils. Signals through CCR2B and CCR3 receptors. Plays a role in the accumulation of leukocytes at both sides of allergic and non-allergic inflammation. May be involved in the recruitment of monocytes into the arterial wall during the disease process of atherosclerosis. May play a role in the monocyte attraction in tissues chronically exposed to exogenous pathogens. By IL1/interleukin-1 and TNF. Widely expressed. Found in small intestine, thymus, colon, lung, trachea, stomach and lymph node. Low levels seen in the pulmonary artery smooth muscle cells. Belongs to the intercrine beta (chemokine CC) family.

Product Notes

The CCL2 ccl2 (Catalog #AAA8111447) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Recombinant Anti-MCP-1/CCL2 Antibody, Rabbit Monoclonal reacts with Mouse and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's MCP-1/CCL2 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA (EIA) (Cap). ELISA (Cap): This antibody will detect Mouse MCP-1/CCL2 in ELISA pair set. In a sandwich ELISA, it can be used as capture antibody. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the CCL2 ccl2 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "MCP-1/CCL2, Monoclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
