The Adhesion family forms a large branch of the pharmacologically important superfamily of G protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs). ADGRF3 (GPR113) has been shown to be selectively expressed in a subset of taste receptor cells, whereas ADGRCs 1-3 (CELSRs 1-3) are expressed in the developing murine olfactory epithelium and cochlea. Adgrc1 (Celsr1) mouse mutants exhibit defects in PCP of the inner ear sensory epithelium, revealed by misorientation of the outer but not inner hair cells.
