Related Product Information for anti-ssPA antibody
Stringent starvation protein A (ssPA), a member of the GST superfamily, is an RNA polymerase-associated transcriptional activator for the lytic development of phage P1 and is essential for stationary phase-induced acid tolerance of E Coli. It indicates that the flexible regions are not critical for SspA function, whereas the surface pocket is important for both transcriptional activation of the phage P1 late promoter and acid resistance of E Coli. SspA is known to be implicated in survival during nutrient starvation and prolonged stationary phase. Recently, SspA was shown to play an important role in the stationary phase-induced stress response including acid tolerance by down-regulating the level of the global regulator H-NS, which negatively regulates multiple stress defense systems.

NCBI Description

The SspA protein is associated with RNA polymerase and is required for transcriptional activation of the bacteriophage P1 late promoter in vivo and in vitro . [More information is available at EcoCyc: EG10977].

Uniprot Description

Forms an equimolar complex with the RNA polymerase holoenzyme (RNAP) but not with the core enzyme. It is synthesized predominantly when cells are exposed to amino acid starvation, at which time it accounts for over 50% of the total protein synthesized. It is involved in the transition from P1 early to P1 late gene expression. Rnk and SspA can functionally replace P.aeruginosa alginate regulatory gene algR2.

Product Notes

The ssPA sspa (Catalog #AAA8106720) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Anti-ssPA Antibody, Rabbit Polyclonal reacts with E Coli and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's ssPA can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA (EIA). ELISA: 1:5000-1:10,000 Antibody's applications have not been validated with corresponding E Coli. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the ssPA sspa for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "ssPA, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
