Related Product Information for anti-ACOT2 antibody
Acyl-CoA thioesterases (ACOTs) catalyze the hydrolysis of CoA esters to free CoA and carboxylic acids and have important functions in lipid metabolism and other cellular processes. It's reported that the crystal structure at 2.1A resolution of human mitochondrial ACOT2, a type I enzyme. The structure contains two domains, N and C domains. The C domain has the alpha/beta hydrolase fold, with the catalytic triad Ser294-His422-Asp388. The N domain contains a seven-stranded beta-sandwich, which has some distant structural homologs in other proteins. The active site is located in a large pocket at the interface between the two domains. The structural information has significant relevance for other type I ACOTs and related enzymes.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes a member of the acyl-CoA thioesterase protein family, and is one of four acyl-CoA hydrolase genes located in a cluster on chromosome 14. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants. [provided by RefSeq, Jan 2012]

Uniprot Description

ACOT2: Acyl-CoA thioesterases are a group of enzymes that catalyze the hydrolysis of acyl-CoAs to the free fatty acid and coenzyme A (CoASH), providing the potential to regulate intracellular levels of acyl-CoAs, free fatty acids and CoASH. Displays high levels of activity on medium- and long chain acyl CoAs. Belongs to the C/M/P thioester hydrolase family. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Protein type: EC 3.1.2.2; Hydrolase; Mitochondrial; Lipid Metabolism - unsaturated fatty acid biosynthesis

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 14q24.3

Cellular Component: mitochondrion

Molecular Function: acyl-CoA hydrolase activity; palmitoyl-CoA hydrolase activity; receptor binding

Biological Process: acyl-CoA metabolic process; very-long-chain fatty acid metabolic process; long-chain fatty acid metabolic process

Product Notes

The ACOT2 acot2 (Catalog #AAA8102067) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Anti-acyl-CoA Thioesterase 2 Antibody, Rabbit Polyclonal reacts with Human Predicted to React with: Mouse, Rat (Species predicted to react based on 100% sequence homology) and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's acyl-CoA Thioesterase 2 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB). WB: 1:500-1:1000. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the ACOT2 acot2 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "acyl-CoA Thioesterase 2, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
