Related Product Information for anti-SLC1A3 antibody
The SLC1A3 (Solute Carrier Family 1, member 3) gene encodes a glial glutamate transporter-excitatory amino-acid transporter 1, which is a trimeric transmembrane protein responsible for glutamate transport in the synaptic cleft and maps to chromosome 5p12, a region of linkage that coincides in two published ADHD genome scans so far. SLC1A3 is thus both a functional and positional candidate gene for ADHD. Episodic ataxia type 6 (EA6) is caused by mutations in SLC1A3 that encodes excitatory amino acid transporter 1 (EAAT1), a glial glutamate transporter. EAAT1 regulates the extent and duration of the glutamate-mediated signal by the clearance of glutamate after synaptic release. Besides, EAAT1 also has an anion channel activity that prevents additional glutamate release. p53 promotes the expression of SLC1A3, which allows the utilization of aspartate to support cells in the absence of extracellular glutamine.

Uniprot Description

SLC1A3: Transports L-glutamate and also L- and D-aspartate. Essential for terminating the postsynaptic action of glutamate by rapidly removing released glutamate from the synaptic cleft. Acts as a symport by cotransporting sodium. Highly expressed in cerebellum, but also found in frontal cortex, hippocampus and basal ganglia. Belongs to the sodium:dicarboxylate (SDF) symporter (TC 2.A.23) family. SLC1A3 subfamily. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Product Notes

The SLC1A3 slc1a3 (Catalog #AAA8100616) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Anti-EAAT1/SLC1A3 Antibody, Rabbit Polyclonal reacts with Mouse Predicted to React with: Rat (Species predicted to react based on 100% sequence homology) and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's EAAT1/SLC1A3 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Immunohistochemistry-Paraffin (IHC-P). IHC-P: 1:1000-1:4000. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the SLC1A3 slc1a3 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "EAAT1/SLC1A3, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
