Related Product Information for GCK elisa kit
Principle of the assay: GCK ELISA kit applies the quantitative sandwich enzyme immunoassay technique. The microtiter plate has been pre-coated with a monoclonal antibody specific for GCK. Standards or samples are then added to the microtiter plate wells and GCK if present, will bind to the antibody pre-coated wells. In order to quantitatively determine the amount of GCK present in the sample, a standardized preparation of horseradish peroxidase (HRP)-conjugated polyclonal antibody, specific for GCK are added to each well to "sandwich" the GCK immobilized on the plate. The microtiter plate undergoes incubation, and then the wells are thoroughly washed to remove all unbound components. Next, substrate solutions are added to each well. The enzyme (HRP) and substrate are allowed to react over a short incubation period. Only those wells that contain GCK and enzyme-conjugated antibody will exhibit a change in color. The enzyme-substrate reaction is terminated by addition of a sulphuric acid solution and the color change is measured spectrophotometrically at a wavelength of 450 nm. A standard curve is plotted relating the intensity of the color (O.D.) to the concentration of standards. The GCK concentration in each sample is interpolated from this standard curve.

NCBI Description

catalyzes the conversion of ATP and D-glucose to ADP and D-glucose 6-phosphate; may mediate glucosensing in glucose-inhibited and glucose-excited neurons [RGD, Feb 2006]

Uniprot Description

Catalyzes the initial step in utilization of glucose by the beta-cell and liver at physiological glucose concentration. Pancreatic glucokinase plays an important role in modulating insulin secretion. Hepatic glucokinase helps to facilitate the uptake and conversion of glucose by acting as an insulin-sensitive determinant of hepatic glucose usage.

Product Notes

The Human GCK gck (Catalog #AAA729636) is an ELISA Kit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The AAA729636 ELISA Kit recognizes Human GCK. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Glucokinase, ELISA Kit" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
