Intended Uses: This ALDH1A1 ELISA kit is a 1.5 hour solid-phase ELISA designed for the quantitative determination of Rat ALDH1A1. This ELISA kit for research use only!

Principle of the Assay: ALDH1A1 ELISA kit applies the competitive enzyme immunoassay technique utilizing a polyclonal anti-ALDH1A1 antibody and an ALDH1A1-HRP conjugate. The assay sample and buffer are incubated together with ALDH1A1-HRP conjugate in pre-coated plate for one hour. After the incubation period, the wells are decanted and washed five times. The wells are then incubated with a substrate for HRP enzyme. The product of the enzyme-substrate reaction forms a blue colored complex. Finally, a stop solution is added to stop the reaction, which will then turn the solution yellow. The intensity of color is measured spectrophotometrically at 450nm in a microplate reader. The intensity of the color is inversely proportional to the ALDH1A1 concentration since ALDH1A1 from samples and ALDH1A1-HRP conjugate compete for the anti-ALDH1A1 antibody binding site. Since the number of sites is limited, as more sites are occupied by ALDH1A1 from the sample, fewer sites are left to bind ALDH1A1-HRP conjugate. A standard curve is plotted relating the intensity of the color (O.D.) to the concentration of standards. The ALDH1A1 concentration in each sample is interpolated from this standard curve.

NCBI Description

The protein encoded by this gene belongs to the aldehyde dehydrogenase family. Aldehyde dehydrogenase is the next enzyme after alcohol dehydrogenase in the major pathway of alcohol metabolism. There are two major aldehyde dehydrogenase isozymes in the liver, cytosolic and mitochondrial, which are encoded by distinct genes, and can be distinguished by their electrophoretic mobility, kinetic properties, and subcellular localization. This gene encodes the cytosolic isozyme. Studies in mice show that through its role in retinol metabolism, this gene may also be involved in the regulation of the metabolic responses to high-fat diet. [provided by RefSeq, Mar 2011]

Product Notes

The Rat ALDH1A1 aldh1a1 (Catalog #AAA7221903) is an ELISA Kit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The AAA7221903 ELISA Kit recognizes Rat ALDH1A1. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Retinal dehydrogenase 1 (ALDH1A1), ELISA Kit" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
