Related Product Information for anti-PIF1 antibody
DNA-dependent ATPase and 5'-3' DNA helicase required for the maintenance of both mitochondrial and nuclear genome stability. Efficiently unwinds G-quadruplex (G4) DNA structures and forked RNA-DNA hybrids. Resolves G4 structures, preventing replication pausing and double-strand breaks (DSBs) at G4 motifs. Involved in the maintenance of telomeric DNA. Inhibits telomere elongation, de novo telomere formation and telomere addition to DSBs via catalytic inhibition of telomerase. Reduces the processivity of telomerase by displacing active telomerase from DNA ends. Releases telomerase by unwinding the short telomerase RNA/telomeric DNA hybrid that is the intermediate in the telomerase reaction. Possesses an intrinsic strand annealing activity.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes a DNA-dependent adenosine triphosphate (ATP)-metabolizing enzyme that functions as a 5' to 3' DNA helicase. The encoded protein can resolve G-quadruplex structures and RNA-DNA hybrids at the ends of chromosomes. It also prevents telomere elongation by inhibiting the actions of telomerase. Alternative splicing and the use of alternative start codons results in multiple isoforms that are differentially localized to either the mitochondria or the nucleus. [provided by RefSeq, Nov 2013]

Uniprot Description

PIF1: DNA-dependent ATPase and DNA helicase inhibiting telomerase activity by unwinding DNA/RNA duplex formed by telomerase RNA and telomeric DNA in a 5' to 3' polarity. Negatively regulates telomere length and such inhibition requires its ATPase activity. Tightly cell cycle regulated and expressed in late S/G2 phase. Belongs to the helicase family. 3 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Protein type: Helicase; DNA-binding; EC 3.6.4.12

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 15q22.31

Cellular Component: mitochondrion; nuclear chromosome, telomeric region; replication fork

Molecular Function: ATP binding; ATP-dependent 5'-3' DNA helicase activity; ATP-dependent 5'-3' DNA/RNA helicase activity; magnesium ion binding; single-stranded DNA-dependent ATP-dependent DNA helicase activity; telomeric DNA binding

Product Notes

The PIF1 pif1 (Catalog #AAA7045491) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The PIF1 Antibody reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's PIF1 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA (EIA), Immunohistochemistry (IHC). Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the PIF1 pif1 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "PIF1, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
