Related Product Information for MIP-5 (CCL15) active protein
MIP-5 is a CC chemokine that is expressed in the heart, skeletal muscle and adrenal gland. MIP-5 primarily signals through he CCR1 receptor, but also has been found to bind to CCR3. MIP-5 is chemotactic towards T cells and monocytes. Recombinant human MIP-5 is a 10.1 kDa protein containing 92 amino acid residues, including the four highly conserved cysteine residues present in CC chemokines.

NCBI Description

This gene is located in a cluster of similar genes in the same region of chromosome 17. These genes encode CC cytokines, which are secreted proteins characterized by two adjacent cysteines. The product of this gene is chemotactic for T cells and monocytes, and acts through C-C chemokine receptor type 1 (CCR1). The proprotein is further processed into numerous smaller functional peptides. Naturally-occurring readthrough transcripts occur from this gene into the downstream gene, CCL14 (chemokine (C-C motif) ligand 14). [provided by RefSeq, Jan 2013]

Uniprot Description

Function: Chemotactic factor that attracts T-cells and monocytes, but not neutrophils, eosinophils, or B-cells. Acts mainly via CC chemokine receptor CCR1. Also binds to CCR3. CCL15(22-92), CCL15(25-92) and CCL15(29-92) are more potent chemoattractants than the small-inducible cytokine A15. Ref.11

Subunit structure: Monomer. Ref.12

Subcellular location: Secreted.

Tissue specificity: Most abundant in heart, skeletal muscle and adrenal gland. Lower levels in placenta, liver, pancreas and bone marrow. CCL15(22-92), CCL15(25-92) and CCL15(29-92) are found in high levels in synovial fluids from rheumatoid patients. Ref.10 Ref.11

Sequence similarities: Belongs to the intercrine beta (chemokine CC) family.

Product Notes

The MIP-5 (CCL15) ccl15 (Catalog #AAA692083) is an Active Protein produced from E Coli and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Human MIP-5 (CCL15) reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. The amino acid sequence is listed below: QFTNDAETEL MMSKLPLENP VVLNSFHFAA DCCTSYISQS IPCSLM KSYF ETSSECSKPG VIFLTKKGRQ VCAKPSGPGV QDCMKKLKPY S I. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "MIP-5 (CCL15), Active Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
