Related Product Information for IL-9 active protein
IL-9 is an immunoregulatory cytokine produced by IL-2 activated Th2 lymphocytes. IL-9 enhances the proliferation of T lymphocytes, mast cells, erthroid precursor cells and megakaryoblastic leukemia cell lines. Over-expression of IL-9 has been implicated in the pathogenesis of anaplastic lymphoma and Hodgkin\'s disease. Whereas murine IL-9 can function on human cells, human IL-9 is inactive on mouse cells. Recombinant human IL-9 is a 14.0 kDa protein of 127 amino acid residues including 10 cysteine residues which are fully conserved between the human murine proteins.

NCBI Description

The protein encoded by this gene is a cytokine that acts as a regulator of a variety of hematopoietic cells. This cytokine stimulates cell proliferation and prevents apoptosis. It functions through the interleukin 9 receptor (IL9R), which activates different signal transducer and activator (STAT) proteins and thus connects this cytokine to various biological processes. The gene encoding this cytokine has been identified as a candidate gene for asthma. Genetic studies on a mouse model of asthma demonstrated that this cytokine is a determining factor in the pathogenesis of bronchial hyperresponsiveness. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Uniprot Description

Function: Supports IL-2 independent and IL-4 independent growth of helper T-cells.

Subcellular location: Secreted.

Sequence similarities: Belongs to the IL-7/IL-9 family.

Product Notes

The IL-9 il9 (Catalog #AAA691501) is an Active Protein produced from E Coli and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Human IL-9 reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. The amino acid sequence is listed below: MQGCPTLAGI LDINFLINKM QEDPASKCHC SANVTSCLCL GIPSDN CTRP CFSERLSQMT NTTMQTRYPL IFSRVKKSVE VLKNNKCPYF S CEQPCNQTT AGNALTFLKS LLEIFQKEKM RGMRGKI. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "IL-9, Active Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
