Related Product Information for anti-FSHR antibody
FSHR, a Glycoprotein Hormone Receptor, is required for normal ovarian development and follicle maturation in females. When activated, it stimulates ovarian follicular growth and production of estrogens, initiating a normal menstrual cycle. In males, FSHR is required for the initiation of spermatogenesis and normal sperm production. Two isoforms are produced by alternative splicing.

NCBI Description

The protein encoded by this gene belongs to family 1 of G-protein coupled receptors. It is the receptor for follicle stimulating hormone and functions in gonad development. Mutations in this gene cause ovarian dysgenesis type 1, and also ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants. [provided by RefSeq, Mar 2010]

Uniprot Description

Function: Receptor for follicle-stimulating hormone. The activity of this receptor is mediated by G proteins which activate adenylate cyclase.

Subunit structure: Interacts with ARRB2

By similarity.

Subcellular location: Cell membrane; Multi-pass membrane protein.

Tissue specificity: Sertoli cells and ovarian granulosa cells.

Post-translational modification: N-glycosylated; indirectly required for FSH-binding, possibly via a conformational change that allows high affinity binding of hormone

By similarity. Ref.12

Involvement in disease: Ovarian dysgenesis 1 (ODG1) [MIM:233300]: An autosomal recessive disease characterized by primary amenorrhea, variable development of secondary sex characteristics, poorly developed streak ovaries, and high serum levels of follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) and luteinizing hormone (LH).Note: The disease is caused by mutations affecting the gene represented in this entry. Ref.13 Ref.16 Ref.17 Ref.18 Ref.22 Ref.23 Ref.24Ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome (OHSS) [MIM:608115]: Disorder which occurs either spontaneously or most often as an iatrogenic complication of ovarian stimulation treatments for in vitro fertilization. The clinical manifestations vary from abdominal distention and discomfort to potentially life-threatening, massive ovarian enlargement and capillary leak with fluid sequestration. Pathologic features of this syndrome include the presence of multiple serous and hemorrhagic follicular cysts lined by luteinized cells, a condition called hyperreactio luteinalis.Note: The disease is caused by mutations affecting the gene represented in this entry. Ref.25 Ref.26 Ref.27 Ref.28 Ref.29

Sequence similarities: Belongs to the G-protein coupled receptor 1 family. FSH/LSH/TSH subfamily.Contains 9 LRR (leucine-rich) repeats.Contains 1 LRRNT domain.

Product Notes

The FSHR fshr (Catalog #AAA649574) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Follicle Stimulating Hormone Receptor, ID (FSHr, FSH-R, Follitropin Receptor, LGR1) reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's Follicle Stimulating Hormone Receptor can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA (EL/EIA), Immunohistochemistry (IHC), Immunofluorescence (IF). Suitable for use in ELISA, Immunofluorescence and Immunohistochemistry. Dilution: ELISA: 1:1000 Immunofluorescence: 1:100-1:500 Immunohistochemistry (FFPE): 10ug/ml. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the FSHR fshr for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Follicle Stimulating Hormone Receptor, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
