Related Product Information for anti-PON2 antibody
PON2 is a member of the paraoxonase gene family, which includes three known members located adjacent to each other on the long arm of chromosome 7. The encoded protein is ubiquitously expressed in human tissues, membrane-bound, and may act as a cellular antioxidant, protecting cells from oxidative stress. Hydrolytic activity against acylhomoserine lactones, important bacterial quorum-sensing mediators, suggests the encoded protein may also play a role in defense responses to pathogenic bacteria. Mutations in this gene may be associated with vascular disease and a number of quantitative phenotypes related to diabetes.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes a member of the paraoxonase gene family, which includes three known members located adjacent to each other on the long arm of chromosome 7. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been described. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Uniprot Description

PON2: Capable of hydrolyzing lactones and a number of aromatic carboxylic acid esters. Has antioxidant activity. Is not associated with high density lipoprotein. Prevents LDL lipid peroxidation, reverses the oxidation of mildly oxidized LDL, and inhibits the ability of MM-LDL to induce monocyte chemotaxis. Belongs to the paraoxonase family. 3 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Protein type: EC 3.1.1.81; Hydrolase; EC 3.1.1.2; Motility/polarity/chemotaxis

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 7q21.3

Cellular Component: mitochondrion; lysosome; plasma membrane; extracellular region; nucleus

Molecular Function: identical protein binding; arylesterase activity; metal ion binding

Biological Process: response to oxidative stress; aromatic compound catabolic process

Product Notes

The PON2 pon2 (Catalog #AAA6335885) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The PON2, ID (PON2, Serum paraoxonase/arylesterase 2, Aromatic esterase 2, Serum aryldialkylphosphatase 2) (APC) reacts with Human, Mouse and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's PON2 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Immunofluorescence (IF), FLISA, Immunohistochemistry (IHC), Western Blot (WB). IF: 1:10-50 FLISA: 1:1,000 IHC: 1:50-100 WB: 1:100-500 Applications are based on unconjugated antibody. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the PON2 pon2 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "PON2, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
