NCBI and Uniprot Product Information
NCBI Description
The protein encoded by this gene belongs to the subtilisin-like proprotein convertase family. The members of this family are proprotein convertases that process latent precursor proteins into their biologically active products. This encoded protein is a calcium-dependent serine endoprotease. It is structurally related to its family members, PACE and PACE4. This protein is concentrated in the trans-Golgi network, associated with the membranes, and is not secreted. It can process proalbumin and is thought to be responsible for the activation of HIV envelope glycoproteins gp160 and gp140. This gene has been implicated in the transcriptional regulation of housekeeping genes. Multiple alternatively spliced transcripts are described for this gene but their full length nature is not yet known. Downstream of this gene's map location at 11q23-q24, nucleotides that match part of this gene's 3' end are duplicated and inverted. A translocation breakpoint associated with lymphoma occurs between this gene and its inverted counterpart. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
Uniprot Description
Function: Likely to represent a ubiquitous endoprotease activity within constitutive secretory pathways and capable of cleavage at the RXXX[KR]R consensus motif.
Catalytic activity: Release of mature proteins from their proproteins by cleavage of Arg-Xaa-Xaa-Xaa-Yaa-Arg-|-Zaa bonds, where Xaa can be any amino acid and Yaa is Arg or Lys.
Cofactor: Calcium
By similarity.
Enzyme regulation: Inhibited by zinc and copper
By similarity.
Subcellular location: Golgi apparatus › trans-Golgi network membrane; Single-pass type I membrane protein
By similarity. Note: Seems to be localized intracellularly to the trans Golgi network
By similarity.
Tissue specificity: Expressed in spleen, thymus, prostate, testis, ovary, small intestine, colon and peripheral blood leukocyte.
Post-translational modification: Cysteine residues in the cytoplasmic tail are probably palmitoylated. Ref.12N-glycosylated. Ref.12
Sequence similarities: Belongs to the peptidase S8 family.Contains 1 homo B/P domain.

Product Notes
The PCSK7 pcsk7 (Catalog #AAA6331880) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The PCSK7, CT (PCSK7, LPC, PC7, PC8, SPC7, Proprotein convertase subtilisin/kexin type 7, Lymphoma proprotein convertase, Prohormone convertase 7, Proprotein convertase 7, Proprotein convertase 8, Subtilisin/kexin-like protease PC7) (AP) reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's PCSK7 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), ELISA (EIA). WB: 1:100-500 ELISA: 1:1,000 Applications are based on unconjugated antibody. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the PCSK7 pcsk7 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "PCSK7, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.Precautions
