Related Product Information for anti-MPZ antibody
Human Myelin Protein Zero (Po) is a 28.400 Kd protein (258 aa) found in myelin of the PNS. Expressed in myelinating Schwann cells, Po serves as a homophilic adhesion molecule, allowing adjacent laminae of the myelin sheath to undergo compaction. Po is also a marker of a subpopulation of neural crest cells. Mutations of the MPZ gene product in humans is responsible for Charcot-Marie-Tooth type 1B neuropathies (HMSN1B).

NCBI Description

This gene encodes a major structural protein of peripheral myelin. Mutations in this gene result in the autosomal dominant form of Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease type 1 and other polyneuropathies. [provided by RefSeq]

Uniprot Description

myelin P0: a structural protein in peripheral nervous system Schwann cells. Forms an extracellular membrane face which guides the wrapping process and ultimately compacts adjacent lamellae. Defects cause of Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease, Dejerine-Sottas syndrome, congenital hypomyelination neuropathy, and Roussy-Levy syndrome.

Protein type: Membrane protein, integral; Adaptor/scaffold

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 1q23.3

Cellular Component: integral to plasma membrane; plasma membrane; myelin sheath

Molecular Function: structural molecule activity

Biological Process: synaptic transmission; intercellular junction maintenance

Product Notes

The MPZ mpz (Catalog #AAA626732) is an Antibody produced from Chicken and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Myelin Protein Zero (P-Zero Myelin Protein, PZO) reacts with Human, Mouse and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's Myelin Protein Zero can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), Immunohistochemistry (IHC), Immunocytochemistry (ICC). Suitable for use in Immunohistochemistry, Immunocytochemistry and Western Blot. Dilution: Immunohistochemistry: 1:1000-1:2000 using 2% paraformaldehyde tissues Immunocytochemistry: 1:1000-1:2000 using 2% paraformaldehyde cells Western Blot: 1:2000-1:5000. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the MPZ mpz for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Myelin Protein Zero, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
