NCBI Description

This gene encodes a member of the arginine/serine-rich splicing factor protein family, and functions in both constitutive and alternative pre-mRNA splicing. The protein binds to pre-mRNA transcripts and components of the spliceosome, and can either activate or repress splicing depending on the location of the pre-mRNA binding site. The protein's ability to activate splicing is regulated by phosphorylation and interactions with other splicing factor associated proteins. Multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. In addition, a pseudogene of this gene has been found on chromosome 13. [provided by RefSeq]

Uniprot Description

SF2: a serine-arginine-rich splicing regulatory protein. Plays a role in preventing exon skipping, ensuring the accuracy of splicing and regulating alternative splicing. Interacts with other spliceosomal components, via the RS domains, to form a bridge between the 5' and 3' splice site binding components, U1 snRNP and U2AF. Can stimulate binding of U1 snRNP to a 5'-splice-site-containing pre-mRNA. Extensively phosphorylated on serine residues in the serine-arginine rich region. Three splice variant isoforms have been described. ASF/SF2 splicing enhancer (ASE) which can specifically activate ASE-dependent splicing. Isoform ASF-2 and isoform ASF-3 act as splicing repressors.

Product Notes

The SRSF1 srsf1 (Catalog #AAA617819) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Splicing Factor, Arginine/Serine-Rich 1 (SFRS1, Alternate splicing factor) reacts with Human, Rodent and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's Splicing Factor, Arginine/Serine-Rich 1 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA (EL/EIA). Suitable for use in ELISA. Dilution: ELISA (Serum Titer): 1:250,000 Western Blot: Preliminary results: Human placenta 50, 65kD, Human cerebellum 50kD. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the SRSF1 srsf1 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Splicing Factor, Arginine/Serine-Rich 1, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
