Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months at -20 degree C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
Subject to uses under US Patent No. 05/998,154
Related Product Information for anti-SSTR2 antibody
Somatostatin is a tetradecapeptide that is widely distributed in the body. It acts on multiple organs in the body and also functions as a neuropeptide affecting electrical activity of neurons. Somatostatin Receptor 2 (SSR2), along with SSR1, is expressed at the highest levels in the stomach and jejunum, cerebrum and kidney, respectively.

NCBI Description

Somatostatin acts at many sites to inhibit the release of many hormones and other secretory proteins. The biologic effects of somatostatin are probably mediated by a family of G protein-coupled receptors that are expressed in a tissue-specific manner. SSTR2 is a member of the superfamily of receptors having seven transmembrane segments and is expressed in highest levels in cerebrum and kidney. [provided by RefSeq]

Uniprot Description

SSTR2: Receptor for somatostatins-14 and -28. This receptor is coupled via pertussis toxin sensitive G proteins to inhibition of adenylyl cyclase. In addition it stimulates phosphotyrosine phosphatase and PLC via pertussis toxin insensitive as well as sensitive G proteins. In RIN-5F cells, this receptor inhibits calcium entry by suppressing voltage dependent calcium-channels. The C-terminus interacts with SHANK1 PDZ domain. Cerebrum and kidney. In lesser amounts in jejunum, colon and liver. Belongs to the G-protein coupled receptor 1 family. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Protein type: GPCR, family 1; Membrane protein, integral; Membrane protein, multi-pass; Receptor, GPCR

Product Notes

The SSTR2 sstr2 (Catalog #AAA616786) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Somatostatin Receptor Type 2 (SSTr2) reacts with Human, Mouse, Rat and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's Somatostatin Receptor Type 2 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA (EL/EIA), Western Blot (WB), Immunohistochemistry (IHC), Immunofluorescence (IF). Suitable for use in ELISA, Immunohistochemistry, Immunofluorescence and Western Blot. Dilution: Western Blot: 1:100-1:1000 (ECL) (75-85kD band; may see smaller MW bands as well) Immunofluorescence 1:100-1:250 Immunohistochemistry: Parrafin. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the SSTR2 sstr2 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Somatostatin Receptor Type 2, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
