Related Product Information for anti-GLP2R antibody
Glucagon is a member of a multigene family comprising of Secretin, Vasoactive Intestinal Peptide (VIP), Gastric Inhibitory Peptide (GIP) and others like Glicentin and Oxyntomodulin (OXM), which differs from glucagon by C-terminal octapeptide. The glucagon precursor contains at least 3 intervening sequences that divide the protein-coding portion into 4 regions corresponding to the signal peptide and part of the N-terminal peptide, the remainder of the N-terminal peptide and glucagon, glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP1), and GLP2. The GLP 1 & 2 stimulates intestinal growth and up regulates villus height in the small intestine, concomitant with increased crupt cell proliferation and decreased enterocyte apoptosis. The two GLP's are mainly produced in the A cells of the Islets of Langerhans in response to a drop in blood sugar concentration.

NCBI Description

The GLP2 receptor (GLP2R) is a G protein-coupled receptor superfamily member closely related to the glucagon receptor ans GLP1 receptor. Glucagon-like peptide-2 (GLP2) is a 33-amino acid proglucagon-derived peptide produced by intestinal enteroendocrine cells. Like glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP1) and glucagon itself, it is derived from the proglucagon peptide encoded by the GCG gene. GLP2 stimulates intestinal growth and upregulates villus height in the small intestine, concomitant with increased crypt cell proliferation and decreased enterocyte apoptosis. Moreover, GLP2 prevents intestinal hypoplasia resulting from total parenteral nutrition. GLP2R, a G protein-coupled receptor superfamily member is expressed in the gut and closely related to the glucagon receptor (GCGR) and the receptor for GLP1 (GLP1R). [provided by RefSeq]

Uniprot Description

GLP2R: This is a receptor for glucagon-like peptide 2. The activity of this receptor is mediated by G proteins which activate adenylyl cyclase. Belongs to the G-protein coupled receptor 2 family.

Protein type: Membrane protein, integral; Receptor, GPCR; Membrane protein, multi-pass; GPCR, family 2

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 17p13.3

Cellular Component: plasma membrane; integral to membrane

Molecular Function: G-protein coupled receptor activity; glucagon receptor activity

Biological Process: G-protein signaling, coupled to cAMP nucleotide second messenger; positive regulation of cell proliferation

Product Notes

The GLP2R glp2r (Catalog #AAA614220) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Glucagon-like Peptide 2 Receptor (GLP2R) reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's Glucagon-like Peptide 2 Receptor can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA (EL/EIA), Western Blot (WB). Suitable for use in Western Blot and ELISA. Dilution: Western Blot: 1-10ug/ml using Chemiluminescence technique. ELISA: 0.5-1ug/ml; Control peptide can be used to coat ELISA plates at 1ug/ml (See G2040-39H). Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the GLP2R glp2r for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Glucagon-like Peptide 2 Receptor, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
