Related Product Information for anti-MSI1 antibody
Musashi1, a neural RNA-binding protein, plays an important role in regulating cell differentiation in precursor cells. Musashi-1 (Msi-1) has been shown to increase the accumulation of tau isoforms in intracellular inclusions in dementia. It may play a role in the pathogenesis of various neurodegenerative disorders.
Musashi1 has also been detected in human tumor tissues such as gliomas and melanomas, suggesting its involvement in cancer development. Msi-1 also appears to play be a vital role in the development of several types of carcinoma such as human heptoma, and may be a useful molecular marker for tumor detection.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes a protein containing two conserved tandem RNA recognition motifs. Similar proteins in other species function as RNA-binding proteins and play central roles in posttranscriptional gene regulation. Expression of this gene has been correlated with the grade of the malignancy and proliferative activity in gliomas and melanomas. A pseudogene for this gene is located on chromosome 11q13. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Uniprot Description

Musashi-1: RNA binding protein that regulates the expression of target mRNAs at the translation level. Regulates expression of the NOTCH1 antagonist NUMB. Binds RNA containing the sequence 5'- GUUAGUUAGUUAGUU-3' and other sequences containing the pattern 5'- [GA]U(1-3)AGU-3'. May play a role in the proliferation and maintenance of stem cells in the central nervous system. Detected in fetal kidney, brain, liver and lung, and in adult brain and pancreas. Detected in hepatoma cell lines. Belongs to the Musashi family.

Protein type: RNA-binding

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 12q24

Cellular Component: polysome; cytoplasm; nucleus

Product Notes

The MSI1 msi1 (Catalog #AAA611647) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Musashi-1 RNA Binding Protein (Musashi 1, Musashi1, Msi1, Msi-1, Musashi Homolog 1, RNA Binding Protein Musashi Homolog 1) reacts with Human, Mouse, Rat Species Crossreactivity: rat and mouse. and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's Musashi-1 RNA Binding Protein can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), Immunohistochemistry (IHC-F/P), Immunocytochemistry (ICC). Suitable for use in: Western Blot: 1:500 Immunocytochemistry (Frozen/Paraffin): 1:10-1:2000. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the MSI1 msi1 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Musashi-1 RNA Binding Protein, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
