NCBI Description

Dual-specificity phosphatases (DUSPs) constitute a large heterogeneous subgroup of the type I cysteine-based protein-tyrosine phosphatase superfamily. DUSPs are characterized by their ability to dephosphorylate both tyrosine and serine/threonine residues. They have been implicated as major modulators of critical signaling pathways. DUSP18 contains the consensus DUSP C-terminal catalytic domain but lacks the N-terminal CH2 domain found in the MKP (mitogen-activated protein kinase phosphatase) class of DUSPs (see MIM 600714) (summary by Patterson et al., 2009 [PubMed 19228121]).[supplied by OMIM]

Uniprot Description

DUSP18: Can dephosphorylate single and diphosphorylated synthetic MAPK peptides, with preference for the phosphotyrosine and diphosphorylated forms over phosphothreonine. In vitro, dephosphorylates p-nitrophenyl phosphate (pNPP). Belongs to the protein-tyrosine phosphatase family. Non-receptor class dual specificity subfamily.

Protein type: Motility/polarity/chemotaxis; EC 3.1.3.16; EC 3.1.3.48; Mitochondrial; Protein phosphatase, dual-specificity

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 22q12.2

Cellular Component: nucleoplasm; cytoplasm; nucleus

Molecular Function: protein tyrosine/serine/threonine phosphatase activity; protein tyrosine phosphatase activity; MAP kinase tyrosine/serine/threonine phosphatase activity

Biological Process: inactivation of MAPK activity

Product Notes

The DUSP18 dusp18 (Catalog #AAA610811) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The DUSP18 (Dual Specificity Phosphatase 18, DUSP-18) reacts with Bovine, Human, Monkey and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's DUSP18 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA (EL/EIA), Western Blot (WB). Suitable for use in ELISA and Western Blot. Dilution: Western Blotting: 1:1000-1:2000. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the DUSP18 dusp18 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "DUSP18, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
