Testing Data (Specificity Testing: BOSC cells were transiently transfected with an expression vector encoding either the extracellular domain of IL-13Ra1 or an irrelevant protein. Expression of the constructs was tested with anti-tag monoclonal antibody (B, open curves), an irrelevant monoclonal antibody served as negative control (filled curves). For specificity testing (A), purified antibody was tested on both the IL-13Ra1 and the irrelevant protein transfectants. A positive signal was obtained only with IL-13Ra1 transfected cells.)

NCBI Description

The protein encoded by this gene is closely related to Il13RA1, a subuint of the interleukin 13 receptor complex. This protein binds IL13 with high affinity, but lacks cytoplasmic domain, and does not appear to function as a signal mediator. It is reported to play a role in the internalization of IL13. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Uniprot Description

IL13RA2: a type I membrane protein that binds with high affinity to interleukin-13 (IL13), but not to interleukin-4 (IL4). Lacks a cytoplasmic domain, and does not appear to function as a signal mediator. It is reported to play a role in the internalization of IL13. A member of the Cancer-Testis Antigen (CTA) superfamily. CTAs may play roles in embryonal development and tumor transformation or aspects of tumor progression. CTAs were once thought to be silenced in most normal adult tissues, with limited expression in fetal, placental, testis, and ovarian cells. These proteins are now known to be aberrantly expressed in various cancers and many are capable of eliciting humoral and cellular immune responses. The WSXWS motif appears to be necessary for proper protein folding and thereby efficient intracellular transport and cell-surface receptor binding. The box 1 motif is required for JAK interaction and/or activation. Often overexpressed in brain tumors. A potential vaccine targets for immunotherapy of glioma. Product Notes

The IL13RA2 il13ra2 (Catalog #AAA602150) is an Antibody produced from Mouse and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The IL-13 Receptor (IL-13R) reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's IL-13 Receptor can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA (EL/EIA), Flow Cytometry (FC/FACS). Tested for the use in flow cytometry and cell-ELISA. It is expected that the, antibody will be suited for all applications where recognition of the native protein is required. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the IL13RA2 il13ra2 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "IL-13 Receptor, Monoclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
