Related Product Information for anti-CHST1 antibody
Keratan sulfate (KS), also called keratosulfate, is any of several sulfated glycosaminoglycans (structural carbohydrates) that have been found especially in the cornea, cartilage, and bone. It is also synthesized in the central nervous system where it participates both in development[1] and in the glial scar formation following an injury. Keratan sulfates are large, highly hydrated molecules which in joints can act as a cushion to absorb mechanical shock.

NCBI Description

This locus encodes a member of the keratin sulfotransferase family of proteins. The encoded enzyme catalyzes the sulfation of the proteoglycan keratin. [provided by RefSeq, Aug 2011]

Uniprot Description

CHST1: Sulfotransferase that utilizes 3'-phospho-5'-adenylyl sulfate (PAPS) as sulfonate donor to catalyze the transfer of sulfate to position 6 of galactose (Gal) residues of keratan. Has a preference for sulfating keratan sulfate, but it also transfers sulfate to the unsulfated polymer. The sulfotransferase activity on sialyl LacNAc structures is much higher than the corresponding desialylated substrate, and only internal Gal residues are sulfated. May function in the sulfation of sialyl N- acetyllactosamine oligosaccharide chains attached to glycoproteins. Participates in biosynthesis of selectin ligands. Selectin ligands are present in high endothelial cells (HEVs) and play a central role in lymphocyte homing at sites of inflammation. Belongs to the sulfotransferase 1 family. Gal/GlcNAc/GalNAc subfamily.

Product Notes

The CHST1 chst1 (Catalog #AAA601114) is an Antibody produced from Mouse and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Keratan Sulfate reacts with Bovine, Canine, Human, Mouse, Porcine, Sheep and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's Keratan Sulfate can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA (EL/EIA), Western Blot (WB), Radioimmunoassay (RIA). Suitable for use in Western Blot, ELISA and RIA. May be used in a competitive inhibition assay to measure keratan sulfate levels. Dilution: Western Blot: 1:1000-1:4000 ELISA: 1:5000-1:20,000 RIA:1:30,000-1:500,000. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the CHST1 chst1 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Keratan Sulfate, Monoclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
