Related Product Information for anti-JAM-A antibody
Product Description: The monoclonal antibody BV12 recognizes junctional adhesion molecule-A (JAM-A), also known as JAM-1 and the mouse platelet F11-Receptor (F11R), is a cell adhesion molecule (CAM). JAM-A is a member of the immunoglobulin superfamily found on the surface of mouse platelets and at intercellular junctions of endothelial cells and epithelial cells. JAM-A belongs together with JAM-B (VE-JAM or JAM-3) and JAM-C (JAM-2) to a family of adhesion proteins with a V-C2 immunoglobulin domain organization. JAM plays an important role in tight junctions where it is involved in cell-to-cell adhesion through homophilic interaction. It codistributes with other tight junction components as ZO-1, 7H6 antigen, cingulin and occludin. In human JAM-A plays a role in platelet aggregation, secretion, adhesion and spreading.

NCBI Description

Tight junctions represent one mode of cell-to-cell adhesion in epithelial or endothelial cell sheets, forming continuous seals around cells and serving as a physical barrier to prevent solutes and water from passing freely through the paracellular space. The protein encoded by this immunoglobulin superfamily gene member is an important regulator of tight junction assembly in epithelia. In addition, the encoded protein can act as (1) a receptor for reovirus, (2) a ligand for the integrin LFA1, involved in leukocyte transmigration, and (3) a platelet receptor. Multiple 5' alternatively spliced variants, encoding the same protein, have been identified but their biological validity has not been established. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Uniprot Description

JAM-A: Seems to play a role in epithelial tight junction formation. Appears early in primordial forms of cell junctions and recruits PARD3. The association of the PARD6-PARD3 complex may prevent the interaction of PARD3 with JAM1, thereby preventing tight junction assembly. Plays a role in regulating monocyte transmigration involved in integrity of epithelial barrier. Involved in platelet activation. In case of orthoreovirus infection, serves as receptor for the virus. Belongs to the immunoglobulin superfamily.

Product Notes

The JAM-A f11r (Catalog #AAA584243) is an Antibody produced from Rat and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The JAM-A, Mouse, mAb BV12 reacts with Mouse and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's JAM-A can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Flow Cytometry (FC/FACS), Immunoassay (IA), Immunofluorescence (IF). Application Notes: The monoclonal antibody BV12 can be used for flow cytometry, Western blotting, immuno precipitation and immuno assays. The monoclonal antibody BV12 is also useful for immunofluorescence on fixed cells. Application Use: For flow cytometry and Western blotting dilutions to be used depend on detection system applied. It is recommended that users test the reagent and determine their own optimal dilutions. The typical starting working dilution is 1:50. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the JAM-A f11r for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "JAM-A, Monoclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
