Mouse EpCAM/CD326/EPG-2/SCLC-CD2 Monoclonal Antibody | anti-EpCAM/CD326/EPG-2/SCLC-CD2 antibody
Mouse anti EpCAM/CD326/EPG-2/SCLC-CD2 epithelial antigen
The antibody is also suitable for the detection of rat EpCAM by immunohistochemistry on frozen (acetone fixation for 10 minutes at -20 degree C) and paraffin embedded tissues.
Optimal antibody dilutions for the different applications should be determined by titration.
In humans, EpCAM is overexpressed in a wide range of epithelial carcinomas including lung, colorectal, breast, prostate, head and neck, and hepatic carcinomas. The EpCAM molecule has, therefore, been widely used as a marker for human carcinomas and has been considered as a potential target for immunotherapy. EpCAM is also present on exosomes, microvesicles that are abundantly secreted by tumor cells, and antibodies to EpCAM are widely used for the isolation and identification of these cancer derived exosomes.
Apart from EpCAM's role in cancer syndromes, homozygous mutations in the EpCAM gene have been identified in patients suffering from congenital tufting enteropathy, a rare autosomal recessive form of intractable diarrhea of infancy.
In addition, EpCAM expression may be causally related to maintaining stem cells, and therefore will be a valuable target for future avenues to generate human induced pluripotent stem cells
In rats, EpCAM (also known as the Gz-1 antigen) is differentially expressed during embryogenesis, from the fertilized rat oocyte to all subsequently arising epithelial structures, suggesting a role for EpCAM in the proliferation and differentiation of embryonic stems cells.

Uniprot Description
EPCAM: a single-pass type I membrane protein of the EPCAM family. May act as a physical homophilic interaction molecule between intestinal epithelial cells (IECs) and intraepithelial lymphocytes (IELs) at the mucosal epithelium for providing immunological barrier as a first line of defense against mucosal infection. Expressed in almost all epithelial cell membranes but not on mesodermal or neural cell membranes. Found on the surface of adenocarcinomas including pancreatic carcinoma. May be a marker of cancer stem cells.
Protein type: Membrane protein, integral; Cell adhesion; Cell surface; Cell cycle regulation; Motility/polarity/chemotaxis
Cellular Component: tight junction; cell surface; basolateral plasma membrane; apical plasma membrane; integral to membrane; plasma membrane; lateral plasma membrane
Molecular Function: protein complex binding
Biological Process: ureteric bud development; positive regulation of cell proliferation; positive regulation of transcription from RNA polymerase II promoter; stem cell differentiation; negative regulation of apoptosis

Product Notes
The EpCAM/CD326/EPG-2/SCLC-CD2 epcam (Catalog #AAA570318) is an Antibody produced from Mouse and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Mouse anti EpCAM/CD326/EPG-2/SCLC-CD2 epithelial antigen reacts with Rat. Does not react with human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's EpCAM/CD326/EPG-2/SCLC-CD2 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Immunoprecipitation (IP), Flow Cytometry (FC/FACS), Immunocytochemistry (ICC), Immunohistochemistry (IHC) Formalin/Paraffin, Western Blot (WB). The GZ-20 antibody is suitable for the detection of rat EpCAM by western blotting, immunoprecipitation, immunocytochemistry and flow cytometry. The antibody is also suitable for the detection of rat EpCAM by immunohistochemistry on frozen (acetone fixation for 10 minutes at -20 degree C) and paraffin embedded tissues. Optimal antibody dilutions for the different applications should be determined by titration. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the EpCAM/CD326/EPG-2/SCLC-CD2 epcam for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "EpCAM/CD326/EPG-2/SCLC-CD2, Monoclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.Precautions
