Biological Significance
Keratinocyte Growth Factor (KGF/FGF7) is one of 23 known members of the FGF family. Proteins of this family play a central role during prenatal development and postnatal growth and regeneration of variety of tissues, by promoting cellular proliferation and differentiation. KGF/FG-7 is a mitogen factor specific for epithelial cells and keratinocytes and signals through FGFR 2b. KGF/FGF7 plays a role in kidney and lung development, angiogenesis, and wound healing.
Bioactivity
The ED50 as determined by the dose-dependent stimulation of thymidine uptake by KGF-responsive BaF3 cells is approximately 10 ng/ml, corresponding to a specific activity of approximately 1 x 10^5 units/mg.
Endotoxin Levels
Endotoxin level is less than 0.1 ng per ug (1 EU/ug).
Expression System
E Coli
Preparation and Storage
Store at 4 degree C until reconstitution. Following reconstitution aliquot and freeze at -20 degree C for long term storage. Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles.

NCBI Description

The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the fibroblast growth factor (FGF) family. FGF family members possess broad mitogenic and cell survival activities, and are involved in a variety of biological processes, including embryonic development, cell growth, morphogenesis, tissue repair, tumor growth and invasion. This protein is a potent epithelial cell-specific growth factor, whose mitogenic activity is predominantly exhibited in keratinocytes but not in fibroblasts and endothelial cells. Studies of mouse and rat homologs of this gene implicated roles in morphogenesis of epithelium, reepithelialization of wounds, hair development and early lung organogenesis. Product Notes

The KGF fgf7 (Catalog #AAA538260) is an Active Protein produced from Human and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. AAA Biotech's KGF can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, User optimized. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the KGF fgf7 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. The amino acid sequence is listed below: Region of KGF protein correspond ing to amino acids MCNDMTPEQM ATNVNCSSPE RHTRSYDYME GGDIRVRRLF CRTQWYLRID KRGKVKGTQE MKNNYNIMEI RTVAVGIVAI KGVESEFYLA MNKEGKLYAK KECNEDCNFK ELILENHYNT YASAKWTHNG GEMFVALNQK GIPVRGKKTK KEQKTAHFLP MAIT. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "KGF, Active Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
