• Biological Significance: IL20 is a member of the IL10 family of regulatory cytokines which includes IL10, IL19, IL20, IL22, IL24 and IL26. Members of this family share partial homology in their amino acid sequences but they are dissimilar in their biological functions. IL20 is a hematopoietic growth factor capable of stimulating colony formation by CD34+ multipotential progenitors, but not by other progenitor cells. IL20 signals through a receptor system composed of type I IL20R-a and type II IL20R-beta. Over-expression of IL20 in keratinocytes expressing both receptor subunits has been implicated in the induction of inflammatory skin disease.
• Immunogen: IL20 antibody was raised in goat using highly pure recombinant human IL-20 as the immunogen.
• Preparation and Storage: Store at -20 degree C until reconstitution. Following reconstitution product may be stored at 4 degree C in the short term. For long term storage aliquot and freeze at -20 degree C. Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles.

The protein encoded by this gene is a cytokine structurally related to interleukin 10 (IL10). This cytokine has been shown to transduce its signal through signal transducer and activator of transcription 3 (STAT3) in keratinocytes. A specific receptor for this cytokine is found to be expressed in skin and upregulated dramatically in psoriatic skin, suggesting a role for this protein in epidermal function and psoriasis.
