Biological Significance
Component C4 interacts with C1 and C2 to form C3 convertase of the classic activation pathway. Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is often associated with congenital C4 deficiency. Reduced levels of components of the classic pathway (C1, C2, C4, C3) are common after such activation, e.g. in SLE, acute serum sickness and conditions associated with circulating immune complexes. The common form present in plasma and used in test assays is the C4c form offered here.

Product Notes

The C4a c4 (Catalog #AAA5308189) is an Active Protein produced from Human and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Complement C4, Active Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
