For optimal storage, aliquot target into smaller quantities after centrifugation and store at recommended temperature.
For most favorable performance, avoid repeated handling and multiple freeze/thaw cycles.
Scientific Background: The PI3K comprises of a 110 kDa catalytic subunit and an 85 kDa regulatory subunit. A number of isoforms of the 110 kDa catalytic subunit and the 85 kDa regulatory subunit exist in cells. The p110 beta catalytic subunit (PIK3CB) plays a role in regulating the formation and stability of alpha-2B-beta-3 integrin adhesion bonds, which are necessary for shear force-induced platelet activation (1). In animal model of prostate tumor formation induced by the tumor suppressor PTEN loss, ablation of p110 beta impedes tumorigenesis with a concomitant diminution of AKT phosphorylation (2).
NCBI and Uniprot Product Information
NCBI Description
This gene encodes an isoform of the catalytic subunit of phosphoinositide 3-kinase (PI3K). These kinases are important in signaling pathways involving receptors on the outer membrane of eukaryotic cells and are named for their catalytic subunit. The encoded protein is the catalytic subunit for PI3Kbeta (PI3KB). PI3KB has been shown to be part of the activation pathway in neutrophils which have bound immune complexes at sites of injury or infection. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants. [provided by RefSeq, Dec 2011]
Uniprot Description
PIK3CB: catalytic subunit of phosphoinositide-3-kinase beta. Catalyzes the production of phosphatidylinositol-3,4,5-triphosphate by phosphorylating phosphatidylinositol (PI), phosphatidylinositol-4-phosphate (PIP) and phosphatidylinositol-4,5-bisphosphate (PIP2). Growth factors and hormones trigger this phosphorylation event, which in turn coordinates cell growth, cell cycle entry, cell migration and cell survival. PTEN reverses this process, and the PI3K signaling pathway is constitutively activated in human cancers that have loss of function of PTEN. Expressed ubiquitously.

Product Notes
The PI3K pik3cb (Catalog #AAA515591) is a Recombinant Protein produced from Sf9 insect cells using baculovirus and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The immunogen sequence is Full length. AAA Biotech's PI3K can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Kinase Assay. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the PI3K pik3cb for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "PI3K, Recombinant Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.Precautions
