For optimal storage, aliquot target into smaller quantities after centrifugation and store at recommended temperature.
For most favorable performance, avoid repeated handling and multiple freeze/thaw cycles.
Scientific Background: EHMT2 is a lysine-preferring histone methyltransferase. EHMT2 can methylate itself at K165 and this automethylation is necessary and sufficient to mediate in vivo interaction of EHMT2 with heterochromatin protein-1 (HP1) (1). EHMT2 is responsible for the majority of dimethylation of histone H3 at lysine 9 (H3K9me2) and is required for the efficient repression of developmentally regulated genes during embryonic stem cell differentiation (2). EHMT2 is overexpressed in various cancers and can can specifically methylate p53 at Lys (373). EHMT2 polymorphisms have been associated with colorectal cancer.
NCBI and Uniprot Product Information
NCBI Description
This gene encodes a methyltransferase that methylates lysine residues of histone H3. Methylation of H3 at lysine 9 by this protein results in recruitment of additional epigenetic regulators and repression of transcription. This gene was initially thought to be two different genes, NG36 and G9a, adjacent to each other in the HLA locus. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants. Uniprot Description
Histone methyltransferase that specifically mono- and dimethylates 'Lys-9' of histone H3 (H3K9me1 and H3K9me2, respectively) in euchromatin. H3K9me represents a specific tag for epigenetic transcriptional repression by recruiting HP1 proteins to methylated histones. Also mediates monomethylation of 'Lys-56' of histone H3 (H3K56me1) in G1 phase, leading to promote interaction between histone H3 and PCNA and regulating DNA replication. Also weakly methylates 'Lys-27' of histone H3 (H3K27me). Also required for DNA methylation, the histone methyltransferase activity is not required for DNA methylation, suggesting that these 2 activities function independently. Probably targeted to histone H3 by different DNA-binding proteins like E2F6, MGA, MAX and/or DP1. May also methylate histone H1. In addition to the histone methyltransferase activity, also methylates non-histone proteins: mediates dimethylation of 'Lys-373' of p53/TP53. Also methylates CDYL, WIZ, ACIN1, DNMT1, HDAC1, ERCC6, KLF12 and itself.

Product Notes
The EHMT2 ehmt2 (Catalog #AAA515494) is a Recombinant Protein produced from Sf9 insect cells using baculovirus and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The immunogen sequence is 807-end. AAA Biotech's EHMT2 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Methyltransferase Assay. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the EHMT2 ehmt2 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "EHMT2, Recombinant Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.Precautions
