NCBI Description

This gene is a member of the glycoprotein hormone beta chain family and encodes the beta subunit of luteinizing hormone (LH). Glycoprotein hormones are heterodimers consisting of a common alpha subunit and an unique beta subunit which confers biological specificity. LH is expressed in the pituitary gland and promotes spermatogenesis and ovulation by stimulating the testes and ovaries to synthesize steroids. The genes for the beta chains of chorionic gonadotropin and for luteinizing hormone are contiguous on chromosome 19q13.3. Mutations in this gene are associated with hypogonadism which is characterized by infertility and pseudohermaphroditism. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Uniprot Description

LHB: Promotes spermatogenesis and ovulation by stimulating the testes and ovaries to synthesize steroids. Defects in LHB are a cause of hypogonadism LHB-related (HGON-LHB). Hypogonadism is characterized by infertility and pseudohermaphroditism. Belongs to the glycoprotein hormones subunit beta family.

Product Notes

The Mouse LH lhb (Catalog #AAA041300) is an ELISA Kit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The AAA041300 ELISA Kit recognizes Mouse LH. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Luteinizing Hormone, ELISA Kit" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
