Related Product Information for anti-NPPA antibody
The antiserum was raised in a rabbit which was immunized with Rat Atrial natriuretic peptide (28 amino acid sequence) covalently attached onto a carrier protein. The whole antiserum and IgG fraction have been characterized by RIA. ELISA. and cell staining techniques. This IgG fraction was prepared by precipitation. dialysis and column chromatography. Dilute the lyophilized antibody with 0.1 ml of 10 mg/ml BSA in PBS for the equivalent concentration of IgG in whole antiserum. or with additional buffer for more dilute antiserum.
Store the lyophilized powder at 4 degree C. After rehydrating the antibody. we recommend aliquoting into smaller portions and freezing at -20 degree C. Do not subject this antibody to repeated freeze/thaw cycles. Each vial contains 2.93 mg of purified IgG

NCBI Description

The protein encoded by this gene belongs to the natriuretic peptide family. Natriuretic peptides are implicated in the control of extracellular fluid volume and electrolyte homeostasis. This protein is synthesized as a large precursor (containing a signal peptide), which is processed to release a peptide from the N-terminus with similarity to vasoactive peptide, cardiodilatin, and another peptide from the C-terminus with natriuretic-diuretic activity. Mutations in this gene have been associated with atrial fibrillation familial type 6. [provided by RefSeq]

Uniprot Description

Function: Hormone playing a key role in cardiovascular homeostasis through regulation of natriuresis, diuresis, and vasodilatation. Specifically binds and stimulates the cGMP production of the NPR1 receptor. Binds the clearance receptor NPR3. Ref.15

Subcellular location: Secreted.

Post-translational modification: Cleaved by CORIN upon secretion to produce the functional hormone.

Polymorphism: There are two different prepronatriodilatin alleles. One codes for 2 Arg residues at the C-terminus that are cleaved to form the mature peptide, while the other ends in a termination codon immediately after the last codon of the mature peptide.

Involvement in disease: Defects in NPPA are the cause of atrial fibrillation familial type 6 (ATFB6) [

MIM:612201]. Atrial fibrillation is a common disorder of cardiac rhythm that is hereditary in a small subgroup of patients. It is characterized by disorganized atrial electrical activity, progressive deterioration of atrial electromechanical function and ineffective pumping of blood into the ventricles. It can be associated with palpitations, syncope, thromboembolic stroke, and congestive heart failure. Ref.20

Sequence similarities: Belongs to the natriuretic peptide family.

Sequence caution: The sequence CAA15955.2 differs from that shown. Reason: Erroneous initiation.

Product Notes

The NPPA nppa (Catalog #AAA352025) is an Antibody and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The ANP (Rat) IgG fraction reacts with Rat and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's ANP (Rat) IgG fraction can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Histo. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the NPPA nppa for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "ANP (Rat) IgG fraction, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
